Northumbrian Water Limited to vary full licence to abstract water serial number 8/36/15/*S/0123 which authorises the abstraction of water from surface water at National Grid References (NGR) TM 02 34, TM 04 34 and TM 10 33. The variation applied for is to: • Add a new abstraction point at NGR TL 91 33, authorising abstraction of up to 120,000 cubic metres of water per day. • Increase the overall daily abstraction for all abstraction points in aggregate from 318,000 to 394,000 cubic metres (although the maximum aggregate abstraction permitted within a 5-year period will not change). • Authorise water to be used for flow testing the new intake and pipeline on a temporary basis. The new abstraction point will abstract water transferred to the River Stour as part of the Ely Ouse to Essex transfer scheme or at times of high natural flow. The new abstraction point will be subject to a minimum required flow being passed before abstraction can commence which will protect the aquatic environment and existing downstream abstractors.
