The authority is looking to embrace new technology and techniques to improve its services, but also to reduce the risk of its workforce. With this in mind, this PIN notice invites expressions of interest from organisations with the potential and ability to be able to supply thermal imaging scanner capability for Incident Command, with image capture capability. The camera should meet the relevant EN or equivalent standards applicable to thermal image cameras and should allow the operator to carry and operate the camera with one 'gloved hand'. The device should be capable of measuring and displaying clearly the image of all temperature variations within an object or structure, between at least 0 to +800C that are in the field of view and be capable of transmitting 'real time' images to a remote location (e.g. command unit). It should be lightweight, be constructed against electrical shock and be resistant to heat of 60 C for fifty minutes, and 80 for ten minutes in a one hour cycle. It should also be waterproof to a depth of at least one meter and sealed to at least IP67. It should be fully portable with its own power supply and have an operating time of at least two hours without the need to recharge or renew the power supply. GMFRS will be issuing the formal tender opportunity in 2013 and invites organisations able to develop and supply this requirement to respond to this PIN notice.
