I do generally agree that The President is taking it on the chin from many of us that have been disappointed by his tendency to "compromise" away all of his leverage negotiating with himself in the lead-up to the actual negotiations with the other side. He's the guy that pays the new car price for the used car, and it's forced me to acknowledge the criticisms I heard of him in business suites prior to the election: specifically that he has no executive experience, and business isn't like chess. In the end this has played to the favor of the Republicans, and they think it's funny.

Even with that admission, when push comes to shove the salient achievements of his first term; delivering a modicum of fairness into health "insurance;" saving the world from a self inflicted US Banking System failure; resisting an otherwise relentless drive to disenfranchise the middle class; these will play out in his favor politically, and most of the disenchanted will return to the fold. Don't forget the stark philosophical difference when one compares the compromiser in chief to a man that made his fortune exporting American jobs and driving wages down.

Come this time next year, we'll be singing his praises and hoping we see a more muscular approach in the next term. My belief is that President Obama is biding his time, letting out the rope, and waiting to jam a stick in their bicycle wheel. All this coming from a vitriolic critic.

Good Luck, Mr. President - We're counting on you!

I agree with all of what your wrote, with the exception of the last sentence.

Should any of these Republican candidates be elected, it would not be a replay but a sequel even worse than the terrible original.

Ray and Laura, you mean that if there is a chance of failure the best strategy is not to fight? If Obama had campaigned with the same strategy he has used as President, he would never have been elected. But it seems that getting elected, and re-elected, is what his ambition is all about. How silly of us to have believed that he considered working for, fighting for, the common good was what his presidency was going to be about. Obama and the Democrats in the Senate never even challenged the Republicans. The Republicans cried "Filibuster!" and Obama and the Democrats slunk off with their tails between their legs.

Try "Educating" yourself too! Until the midterm losses the Democrats did have 60 Votes in the Senate and a Majority in the House. Mostly what got done was they gave our tax money to their rich friends.

This sort of wobbly 'equivalent' thinking works only if you ignore the Republican-lite Democratic Blue Dogs who dominated the House and consider a razor-thin margin with turncoats like Lieberman 'control' in the Senate. The congressmen and senators who choked and blocked Obama at every step are for the most part nothing but frightened pseudo Republicans in sheep's clothing. THAT is the problem and the cause of most of the dysfunction. They were the second worse thing to happen aside from the ACTUAL Republicans, who have a stated policy of gridlocking the government. Do you think the last three years somehow magically cancel out a decade of (YES) Bush and Republican 'Conservative' policy errors and disasters? The blame lays were it always has been, in the selfish, illogical, ideological policies of the rightwing, now clearly on display more than ever in the current crop of out and out liars and fascists running for the GOP.

Are Geithner, Bernanke, Immelt, and all the other Wall Street Apologists in the Obama Administration on board with his plan for "economic justice"?? Something tells me they're not.

All the above has been said many times over.

So may I use this venue to give our president some good advice?

When you give speech Mr.President, look directly into the camera. That is how you connect.

Ask your camera person to shift the viewing angle from looking up at you? It makes you look arrogant. Also stop calling us "folks." We are people. Don't say "kids." Say children

Also, you might want to mention how so many middle class people have fallen into near poverty.

We don't need rhetoric, we need results.

I'm tired of the Democrats and Republicans addressing the agenda of their party rather than fixing the problems this country and the world face. Are they there to serve their party or the people and country who elect them?

We the people are the stockholders and they are the elected board. In my opinion there is a structural flaw in the way this country is currently run and it needs to change now.

Maybe the solution is no party. We elect men and women to collaborate and come up with the best ideas to solve the problems and run this country the best they know how. If they don't succeed, then they don't have a job anymore.

We need a bigger change in Washington D.C. than a new president. WE NEED A NEW WAY OF MANAGING THIS COUNTRY. Less politics and more results.

As my father so many times told me: "The laws are made by lawyers in our government. Who do you think those laws serve? In too many cases they don't serve the people, but they serve the best interests of the lawyers who created them."
